Take on one of the Kenai Peninsula’s most rugged and rewarding trail systems with our Falls Creek ATV Trailhead Rentals and Guided Tours.
Located within Chugach National Forest and managed by the Alaska DNR, Falls Creek sits approximately 24.4 miles north of Seward. This 10-mile trail system is considered moderately difficult and best suited for riders with prior off-road experience.
Originally established along historic gold mining routes, the trail climbs at an average 20% grade, gaining elevation from dense forest to tundra line. Along the way, riders encounter hiking spurs that lead toward abandoned mining sites, offering a true backcountry Alaska experience.
Trail Conditions & Features:
- Steep sustained climbs
- Rock, gravel, and root sections
- Mud and multiple water crossings
- A technical bedrock ledge crux
- Dense forest terrain with black and grizzly bear habitat
Falls Creek is generally open to ATV, UTV, SXS, and 4×4 use from June 1 through March 31 (conditions dependent). Hiking access typically runs June 1 through October 15.
This is not a beginner trail — it’s a destination for riders looking for elevation gain, technical features, and classic Alaska mining-country terrain.
